Liposuction

Liposuction is a medical procedure, which removes unwanted fat from specific areas in order to improve your figure. Because fat cells are extracted during the liposuction, the results are permanent and the treated area will thus contain less fat. If, however, you gain weight following the procedure, excess fat will be stored in areas which have not been treated by liposuction.

The liposuction technique is simple: a cannula, attached to a vacuum with a flexible tube, is inserted under the skin through small incisions (0.5 cm) and it suctions out excess fat deposits.

Several factors will influence your appearance following liposuction: the state of your health, the quality of your skin, your age, your weight, etc. During the first week after the liposuction, the treated areas may appear unchanged due to swelling, but once the swelling begins to disappear, you will see a progressive improvement of your figure. Three months after the liposuction, the final results will be obvious, while in some cases, improvements appear later.

Liposuction is not a substitute for healthy eating, nor is it a weight-loss method.

Severe complications rarely arise from the liposuction. If you have other questions, do not hesitate to make an appointment with the Clinique Jean Gilbert. You will receive a personalized consultation during which we will give you the complete details of the procedure that is most suitable for you.
